Civil Society of Nablus Governorate 'CSNG'
Established in 2000 at the outset of the second intifada.
The Civil Society of Nablus Governorate began, mainly to reduce the suffering of innocent Civilians as a result of frequent outbreaks of Israeli aggression in the Governorate of Nablus . Involving active institution & NGOs and the private society specifically provides the following humanitarian aid and services .
*Assistance in-kind (e.g. food)for the poor .
*Health services for these disabled by their injures ,widowed and orphaned families and the needy.
*Assistance to the families of victims to give them a basic standard of living.
*Provision of appropriate shelter for the homeless .
*Compensation for residents whose properties were damaged.
*Reconstruction of home demolished by the Israeli army in cooperation with Palestinian National Authority Institution.
In order to continue providing assistance for the relief work and humanitarian aid for families of victim in the wake of Israeli violence , the Society had formally adopter rules and constitution. Now registration ad a non-governmental charitable society ., it is able to expand its role of support , towards restoration and development its general policies including the following.
*Creating development projects to be carried out by institution which are members of the Society.
*Speeding up reconstruction projects for home demolished by Israeli occupation forces.
*Reviving life in the historic old city of Nablus by implementing a comprehensive plan to renovate residential properties and craft workshops.
*Marketing and promoting Nablus for its cultural heritage as a tourist attraction and for its value ad a center for wealth creation.
*Planning and implementing projects and programmers in partnership with local and international agencies and development initiations.
the Civilian Society comprises representatives of a number local institutions , agencies $ NGOs , as well as representatives of the private sector .
These includes: Nablus Governorate, Nablus Municipality, and Nablus Chamber of Commerce.
Palestinian Women's Unions Red Crescent Society, An-Najah National University, professional associations (physicians and lawyers).
General federation of Labour Unions, Villages Councils, Zakat Committee, The welfare Association, The Palestine Development and Investment Company , and partnership with Ministry of Social Affairs , and Ministry of Public work.
Areas of work
The Civil Society has completed a number of relief programmers and activities.
Victims of Israeli violence and frequent Israeli incursion have benefited from gifts and grants; The Society has adopted a number of relief programmers :
1- Food assistance programmer
This programme began in 2000. Its covers the whole of Nablus Governorate , numbering 327.000 inhabitants . The Society has provided food packages particularly during time of curfew . Assistance is delivered to people who are un able to access provision during prolonged periods of curfew and siege . The Society also regularly distributes food package to poor families identified through surveys carried out by local representative.
Cash is given to those made homeless following demolition of their houses , it enables them to rent living space till their homes are being rebuilt or restored . Some grants are made to buy furniture replacing what has been destroyed.
3-Medical relief services
Over the last five years the governorate has had to credit endure miscrable relief for casualties and the sick especially during siege and prolonged curfews.
The Treatment and medication is given as soon as possible.
Emergency clinics have been established outside the Old City to provide medical treatment especially for the aged , women and children .local hospitals and climes receive medical supplies . Help is given to coordinate health services
